Makerspace
What is a makerspace?
A makerspace is a collaborative workspace where people come together to create, invent, and learn. These spaces often provide access to tools, materials, and technology that might be too expensive or difficult for individuals to obtain on their own. We are thrilled to have some very high-tech machinery in our makerspace. See below!
Our Machines
-
Stratasys F900
Most notable for its large-scale and industrial grade 3D printing, the Stratasys F900 3D printer creates highly accurate 3D printed parts.
-
Stratasys J850
The Stratasys J850 Resin Printer achieves higher resolution, a better surface finish, and produces higher-quality parts compared to 3D printers. GrabCAD Print, an application for preparing and managing print jobs, and GrabCAD PolyJet Server are both used to control the printing.
-
Stratasys F120
The F120 provides users with precise prototypes from a CAD design useful for manufacturing and creating functional parts using two material coil boxes, one for the model and one for support.
-
Makerbot Method X
The MakerBot Method X 3D printer produces manufacturing and production parts using manufacturing-grade materials, such as PLA and PETG. The Method X has its material bay located on the front of the printer, allowing for an accessible way to load materials.
-
Roland VersaUV LEF2-300
The VersaUV LEF2-300 can be used to directly print onto products, including accessories and ceramics, creating colorful and textured effects. The LEF2-300 is notable for customizing and creating unique graphics.
-
Benchmill 6100
The BenchMill 6100 is a benchtop CNC machining center used to rough cut or drill strong, solid materials. The milling machine functions by delivering robust instructions in computer numerical control (CNC) and advanced manufacturing.
-
BenchTurn 7000
Similar to the BenchMill 6100, the BenchTurn 7000 is a benchtop CNC turning center used to cut or drill strong, solid materials but uses a rotating tool. The BenchTurn 7000 allows users to develop and edit programs in order to create and cut parts.
-
Universal VLS 6.75 Laser
Unlike the Ultra R5000 with two lasers, the Universal VLS 6.75 Laser has a single laser used for engraving and cutting. The VLS 6.75 has Smart Laser Source Technology that allows the system to automatically choose the correct settings depending on the material.
-
Universal Ultra R5000 Laser
The Ultra R5000 Laser offers laser material processing for various advanced polymer and composite materials using its two lasers to cut or engrave.
-
ProMax WaterJet
The ProtoMax WaterJet is a precision machining tool operating under software control that uses high-pressure water and garnet abrasive to cut complicated parts. The ProtoMax supports numerous materials, including metal, plastic, glass, ceramics, and stone.
-
Formech 508DT Vacuum Former
The Formech 508DT Vacuum Former has a depth of up to 7.3” (185mm), useful for challenging tasks. The 508DT is utilized to form various materials, such as ABS and polycarbonate, into different shapes.
-
Artec Space Spider
The Artec Space Spider is a high-resolution 3D scanner based on blue light technology. It is perfect for capturing small objects or intricate details of large industrial objects in high resolution, with steadfast accuracy and brilliant color.
-
OmegaSonic Cleaner 4030
The SST4030 Ultrasonic Cleaner has a 187-gallon capacity and removes soluble support structures from printed parts. The SST4030 can hold a printed part as large as 3’x2-1/2’x3’ in order to accommodate the print capacity of the Stratasys F900.
-
Stratasys Baclo Waterjet Cleaner
The Balco WaterJet Cleaner is utilized to clean support material from printed parts by using one of two types of nozzles. Based on the type of nozzle, users are able to choose the flow rate and pressure suitable for cleaning both delicate and robust parts.
